The Green Belt in Lean training is the most popular Lean training course in the Netherlands. This program teaches you the skills and knowledge to work as a Lean Green Belt and make sustainable performance improvements. You’ll earn back your investment through your practical project and continue to benefit from this top-notch Lean training throughout your career.

Lean Green Belt in English

Lean Green Belts are a critical part of any Lean transformation. They assist Lean Black Belts with large improvement projects while independently executing medium-sized improvement projects. To succeed in this role, you’ll need more than just a solid knowledge of Lean, which is why we teach you the skills necessary to become a successful Green Belt in Lean.

Your learning takeaways

Throughout the Lean Green Belt training, you will be gradually prepared to work as an independent improvement professional within your organization. This means that we provide you with the necessary knowledge, but we focus mainly on the application of this knowledge in practice. The success of Lean largely lies in the collaboration between people. That’s why we help you develop the right skills to get and keep people moving.

During the Green Belt in Lean training, we cover the following topics:

  • Lean Management & Lean Thinking
  • Recognizing and reducing waste
  • Value Stream Mapping
  • Kaizen
  • PDCA
  • Operational stability
  • Dealing with resistance, creating support and ensuring sustainability of improvement initiatives.

Our training combines E-Learning and classroom sessions. The E-Learning takes 16 hours and prepares you for the classroom sessions where you will explore the theory with a trainer.

In between sessions, you’ll work on your practical project to apply what you’ve learned. With the trainer’s guidance, you’ll implement improvements in your organization. This enhances the training’s value and helps you earn back your investment quickly.

After completing this training

You can work as a Lean Green Belt within organizations that use Lean, or you can carry out the first improvement projects within an organization that wants to start working with Lean. You have the knowledge to explain Lean applications to people and the skills to implement them directly in practice.

After completing the Green Belt in Lean training (and the practical assignment), you can:

  • Independently carry out change and improvement projects using Lean.
  • Recognize and respond to your own and others’ behaviors with basic interventions that help you increase the results of your improvement projects.
  • Organize and facilitate valuable workshops for your improvement team(s).
  • Make a successful contribution to improvement projects at value stream level.
  • Advise Black Belts in Lean and guide Orange Belts in Lean.
  • Apply Lean Green Belt theory in practice within your work environment.

Program

To explain the Green Belt in Lean program as clearly as possible, we have briefly described it below. If you have specific questions about the content, please contact us at: +31 20 3453015.

Preparation

Before the start of the first practical lesson day, you will receive login credentials for the E-Learning environment from us two weeks in advance. Here you can take in all the theory at your own pace, as many times as you want! Prior to each lesson day, your trainer(s) will inform you of which parts of the E-Learning you must have completed in order to understand the content that will be covered during the lesson day. Access to the E-Learning is valid for one year, so you can refer to it as often as you like.

Training days

During the Green Belt in Lean training, you will have 4 practical training days from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. These days focus on applying the knowledge you learned in the E-Learning environment. Trainers with extensive experience in various sectors and companies will guide you and help you make the theory applicable to your situation. You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn how to use your knowledge to make an impact.

Applying the skills and knowledge

You don’t sign up for the Green Belt in Lean training on a whim – you do it because you’re committed to carrying out improvement initiatives. And we’re here to support you every step of the way. During the course, you’ll develop a plan for an improvement project within your organization. Then, upon completing the training, you’ll put this plan into action as your practical assignment. Your assignment will be evaluated by a (Master) Black Belt from UPD, who will award you the UPD practice certificate if all parts of the project receive at least a passing grade. This certificate is your proof that you can put the theoretical knowledge into practice.

Training contents

The content of the Green Belt in Lean training consists of multiple modules, which you can delve into deeply. The training days are tailored to the group’s needs, so you can determine the level of detail on certain topics. The following topics will be covered in the theory and, if necessary, during the training days:

  • Basic knowledge of Lean Management, Lean Thinking, waste, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Value Stream Mapping, Current State & Future State.
  • 5S, Visual Management & Lean Operational Management.
  • PDCA, 5 Times Why & Decision Matrix.
  • Creating support, overcoming resistance, and securing improvement initiatives.

In order to successfully implement improvements, some change management aspects are also discussed, such as creating support, handling resistance, and securing improvement initiatives.

Theory Certificate

The theory certificate is the written proof that you have mastered Lean methods and techniques at the level of a World Class Green Belt in Lean program. You will receive this at the end of the final training day, provided that you have successfully completed the e-learning module.

Practical Certification in the Lean Green Belt training

Practical certification is optional, but provides a valuable addition to the Lean Green Belt training. It is the proof of competence that shows you not only understand the theory but are also able to apply it successfully in practice.

During the training days you can already start your practical assignment, aimed at realizing an improvement within the organization where you work. Not currently employed? No problem! You can still start your assignment up to 12 months after completing the program.

You will receive your practical certificate once one of our (Master) Black Belts in Lean has reviewed your completed assignment with a passing grade.
